Method
The FundingWatcher startup file holds 166,059 companies whose most recent round is a named stage, pre-seed and angel through Series J. Data as of 12 October 2026. We took every company whose most recent round is dated 1 January to 30 September 2026 and summed the disclosed amount in US dollars. A round with no amount counts as a round and adds nothing to the money. Country and city are the company's headquarters. 555 rounds have no country; they are in the totals and left out of the country tables. Haidian, a district of Beijing, is listed apart from Beijing as the file records it.
- One round per company. The file keeps each company's latest round, so a company that raised twice in 2026 counts once, at the later round.
- Named stages only. Debt, grants, corporate rounds, private equity, secondary sales and rounds without a named stage are out. OpenAI (latest entry a secondary sale), Anthropic (latest entry debt) and Databricks (private equity) are not in these tables.
- The $100M cut is at the round: a round of exactly $100M counts as $100M or more. Early stage means pre-seed, seed, angel and Series A rounds under $100M.
