Method
Data as of 4 September 2026.
What the file contains
The investor file
79,515 entries. An entry is either an organization, meaning a firm, fund, accelerator or corporate venture arm, or a named person recorded as an investor. 48,144 entries carry a website.
Two sources are aggregated. Investor entries come from public investor profiles: name, investor type, investment stage, headquarters city, region and country, founding year, website, LinkedIn, and the counts of recorded investments, lead investments and exits. Team counts come from public professional profiles, matched to an investor by the website domain.
- Name
- The investor name as published.
- Investor type
- One or more of 22 types, for example venture capital firm, private equity firm, angel investor, family office, accelerator.
- Investment stage
- One or more of 13 stages: seed, early stage venture, late stage venture, private equity, debt and others.
- Location
- City, region and country of the headquarters address, where one is published.
- Founded
- Founding year, where one is published.
- Counts
- Recorded investments, lead investments and exits.
- Team members
- The number of professional profiles matched to the investor's website domain. Individual people are not published on this site.
The startup file
164,659 company records. Each company record carries name, domain, a one line description, founding year, funding stage, the type and date of the most recent round, the number of rounds, total raised, headcount band, city, region, country and up to five sector groups. The shape follows public company funding profiles.
Not carried
- Individual people. Only the count per investor is published.
- Fund sizes, assets under management and deal terms.
- Portfolio company lists. Only the counts are carried.
- Email addresses and phone numbers.
- Round by round history and valuations. Only the most recent round is carried.
How counts are made
- Figures are counted from the investor file and the startup file by the code that writes the dated snapshots under data/snapshots.
- An investor is counted once per type and once per stage it carries, so type and stage counts add up to more than 79,515.
- Location counts use the headquarters address only. An investor with several offices is counted once.
- A company is counted in the month of its most recent round.
- Total raised is the sum the source records in US dollars. Rounds raised in other currencies are converted by the source, not here.
- A type by location page is built once it holds at least 20 investors.
What the figures cannot say
- A count of recorded investments counts what the source records, not every investment made.
- 31,371 entries carry no website, so they carry no team count.
- At most five investors are carried per company. A round with more backers is truncated, so an investor count on a profile is a floor, not a total.
- Months near the data date are incomplete, so the most recent month undercounts.
- An investor with no published location is absent from every location count.
